Hong Leong Bank Offers up to Six-Month Loan and Financing Deferment and Financing to Flood Victims
- The loan deferment is applicable to all loan financing repayments, including credit card payments to alleviate the financial burden faced by customers impacted by the floods
- Additional financing will be made available for SME and Commercial customers to help business recovery
Kuala Lumpur, 13 January 2021 – In response to the recent floods in several states in the country, Hong Leong Bank and Hong Leong Islamic Bank (“HLB” or the “Bank”) have mobilised a ‘Flood Relief Assistance’ programme offering up to a six-month payment deferment for all loan and financing facilities, including credit card. Additional financing will also be made available to existing SME and commercial customers who require working capital to facilitate their business recovery as a result of the recent floods.
Affected customers who are currently receiving assistance under the Bank’s Payment Relief Assistance Plans (“PRAP”), as well as the customers under the Payment Relief Assistance for B40, M40 and Microenterprises for COVID-19 related issues, are also eligible to apply for the Flood Relief Assistance. The Bank is also offering free replacement of bank-related documents such as debit and credit cards as well as cheques and bank statements damaged or lost in the floods.
Domenic Fuda, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HLB said, “The incessant heavy rains have affected over 27,000 people across various states and this is on top of the impact of the pandemic. Since last week, we have identified and engaged directly with our customers in the affected areas to offer them immediate relief assistance so as to ease their burden and help them recover from this as quickly as possible. We remain steadfast in our commitment to help and support our customers and would like to stress that affected customers who are already receiving our PRAP assistance are also eligible for the Flood Relief Assistance.”
Apart from the flood relief assistance program, HLB is donating RM200,000 to Mercy Malaysia as part of a community disaster response efforts. The contributions will help Mercy Malaysia in health and COVID-19 related safeguarding and services, food supply, logistics support for response mobilization and lastly, for water, sanitation and hygiene support.
