Overseas transactions performed online will be charged a 1% transaction fee
Effective 7 September 2023, a 1% transaction fee will be charged for online transactions on websites hosted by overseas merchants.
This fee is charged by the overseas merchant to convert the price from foreign currency to Ringgit Malaysia (MYR) and is applicable to debit card/debit card-i and credit card transactions.
Below are some examples of websites hosted by overseas merchants which would charge the 1% transaction fee and how it will be shown in the account statement:
- AIRBNB
- AGODA
- SPOTIFY
- NETFLIX
- APPLE.COM
- TikTok
- Google YouTube Premium
